Little Hell Books

Little Hell. We’d like to introduce you to Dram Good Books’ naughty child, our new imprint Little Hell. This will be the banner under which all non-whisky books will be published. Jim Murray’s first ever book – way back in 1988 – was Millwall: Lions of the South, the legendary history of Millwall Football Club, the first on them ever researched and written. Some 32 years on, it remains the most respected and detailed history of the club. As football has remained a passion of Jim’s, he has decided to continue publishing great, untold stories and other titles on the subject. Though with him fully occupied in producing the Whisky Bible (and in non Covid-19 times touring the world on his whisky evangelism) he now engages other top writers, instead. Why Little Hell? Well, the very spot where Jim grew up in Surrey was once marked on 18th century maps simply as Little Hell, on account of the highwaymen and cut-throats who operated there, their hide-out from robbing the London to Brighton coaches. The first book to come from the Little Hell stable is The Lions’ King, the extraordinary, warts-and-all and hilarious autobiography of Millwall’s legendary, record-breaking goalkeeper Bryan King called up for England by Alf Ramsey and whose career was touched by greats such as Yashin and Gordon Banks. And gives a no holds barred low down on what football was really like during the golden age of the 1960s and ‘70s. Other books will follow under the Little Hell imprint, about football and other topics. And we know they will all be devilishly good books…
